Possession of Marijuana
Alexander Bartleson Pen Argyl PA
On February 19, 2016 at approx. 11:10pm, SBRPD arrested Bartleson for Possession of Marijuana after Bartleson was stopped for a traffic violation on Blue Valley Dr in Pen Argyl. Police located 23 small baggies of marijuana inside the vehicle. Charges were filed on February 22, 2016 at Magistrate Grigg’s office in Bangor.

DUI
Tyler Butenschoen, Pen Argyl PA
On February 14, 2016 at approx. 1:00am, SBRPD arrested Butenschoen for DUI after he was stopped for a traffic violation on Rte 512 in Pen Argyl. Charges were filed at Magistrate Grigg’s office in Bangor.

DUI
Alexander Strauch, Nazareth PA
On February 7 at approx. 3:00am, SBRPD arrested Strauch for DUI at 73 N. Broadway in Wind Gap. Police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the lot and found that Strauch was the operator and appeared under the influence of alcohol. Strauch was taken into custody and transported to the Easton DUI Center. SBRPD filed charges of DUI at District Magistrate Schlegel’s office in Wind Gap on 2/17/16.

Possession of Heroin / DUI
Christian Jackson, Roseto PA
On February 6, 2016 at approx. 4:20 pm, SBRPD arrested Jackson for Possession of Heroin and DUI at 73 N. Broadway in Wind Gap. Police responded to a report of a possible intoxicated driver in the parking lot of the Turkey Hill. Officers found that Jackson was operating his vehicle and was under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. Jackson was also in possession of heroin and paraphernalia. Charges were filed on February 22, 2016 at District Magistrate Schlegel’s office in Wind Gap.

Possession of Marijuana / DUI
Daniel Ricca Danielsville PA
On February 4, 2016 at approx. 9:40pm, SBRPD arrested Ricca for DUI and Possession of Marijuana at the Wind Gap Park in Wind Gap. While checking the park, the officer observed a suspicious vehicle in the lot and found that Ricca appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance. Police also located marijuana and paraphernalia inside of the vehicle. Charges were filed on February 22, 2016 at District Magistrate Schlegel’s office in Wind Gap.

Theft

SBRPD is investigating the theft of a $120 , “Moultrie 900S” Trail Camera from a property in the 1100 block of Verona Drive, Plainfield Twp.  The theft was captured on another trail camera on the property.  The video shows 2 males walking on the victim’s property on 12/6 and removing the camera from a tree.  A copy of still photographs are attached.

 

Retail Theft

Terra Jane Vermilya  43 yr old female   Pen Argyl PA

On 2/2/2016, SBRPD investigated a report of a Retail Theft at the Wind Gap Turkey Hill that occurred on 2/1.  A female entered the store and removed over $40.00 in merchandise.  Through a photo line up, police were able to identify the suspect as Vermilya.  SBRPD had obtained a warrant for arrest for Vermilya for a Felony Retail Theft (prior Retail Theft Offenses).  On 2/8/2016 at 12:10am, SBRPD arrested Vermilya who had returned to the Wind Gap Turkey Hill.  Vermilya was taken to the Central Booking Center where she was later arraigned.  Vermilya was placed in Northampton County Prison on $10,000 bail.

DUI

Travis Collins  – Nazareth PA

On 2/5/2016, SBRPD filed charges for DUI against Collins after he was stopped and arrested on 1/28/16 at approx. 1120pm in Plainfield Township.  Police stopped Collins for speeding on Sullivan Trail and placed him under arrest after he failed field coordination tests.  Collins was taken to the Northampton County DUI Center for processing.

Simple Assault & Harassment

Richard Futchko  19 yr old male  E. Main St.  Pen Argyl PA
On 1/31/2016 at approx. 1202 am, SBRPD responded to the Turkey Hill in Pen Argyl for a report of an assault.  Police learned that the offender, Richard Futchko had assaulted another male while at a residence in the 200 block of East Main St. in Pen Argyl Borough.  The victim suffered injuries from the assault.  Police responded to the residence and found the Futchko was not on scene.  At approximately 2:00am, police found Futchko behind a residence in the 200 block of George St in Pen Argyl Borough and took him into custody.  Futchko was taken to the Central Booking Center for arraignment.  Futchko was then ordered to the Northampton County Prison on $5000 bail.

Investigation – 1/21/2016

SBRPD is investigating the break ins of storage units at Advantage Storage – 1059 W. Pennsylvania Ave., Plainfield Township.  On 1/19/2016, police responded to the Advantage Storage for a report that locks for 4 storage units had been cut off and units entered.  The suspects gained entry into the storage area by cutting through the chain link fence.  It appears at this time that nothing was removed from the units.  

Video from the facility shows two males wearing hoodies on the property at approximately 7:00pm.   Anyone with information is asked to contact the Slate Belt Regional Police Department at 610-759-8517.

Media Release – 1/20/2016

Theft / Defiant Trespassing
Matthew Frantz 34 yr old male Kunkletown PA
On 12/23/2015, SBRPD was called to Giroux Inc. on Male Rd in Wind Gap PA. for a report of a person who had entered the property and stole scrap batteries, copper and other metals. Security camera footage was reviewed and a white van and a male was observed at the scrap pile prior to the start of business. SBRPD learned that just after the reported theft, Frantz arrived at JFR Salvage on Sullivan Trail in Plainfield Township and scrapped the items taken from Giroux. Charges were filed on Frantz for Theft and related offenses. On 1/14/2016, Pennsylvania State Police Lehighton arrested Frantz on the warrant from SBRPD. SBRPD officers picked up Frantz and brought him in front of Justice Schlegel in Wind Gap for arraignment. Magistrate Schlegel set bail at $5,000 and remanded Frantz to the Northampton County Prison.

Possession of Marijuana and Related Offenses
Mark Rohl 20 yr old male W. Main St. Pen Argyl PA.
On January 12, 2016 at approx. 6:00pm, an SBRPD officer observed Rohl riding an ATV on Railroad Ave in Pen Argyl. Police confronted Rohl and located a marijuana pipe in his pocket. On 1/18/2016, SBRPD filed charges of Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Paraphernalia and numerous traffic violations for Rohl operating an ATV on the roadway.

Criminal Trespassing / Criminal Mischief
Courtney Crowley 25 yr old female Effort PA
On January 18, 2016 at approx. 1145pm, SBRPD officers responded to a report of a person who had broken into a home in the 200 Block of N. Heller Ave in Pen Argyl PA. Officers responded and located Crowley near the intersection of N. Heller Ave and Babbit Ave. in Pen Argyl Borough. Additional officers responded to the residence and confirmed that Crowley was identified by the homeowners as the person who broke into the home. The residents advised officers that while sitting in the first floor of the home, they heard a noise from the basement. When the residents went to the basement, they observed Crowley who is a past acquaintance of one of the residents. Crowley had entered the basement by breaking into the basement door to the outside of the home. The homeowner then called police.
Crowley was taken into custody and charged with Criminal Trespassing, Criminal Mischief, Disorderly Conduct and Public Drunkenness. Crowley was taken to the Central Booking Center for arraignment. Crowley was released on unsecured bail.

Media Release – 01/13/2016

Hit and Run Accident Pennsylvania Ave at B Street, Pen Argyl PA.

SBRPD is investigating a hit and run accident that happened on 1/11/2016 at approximately 5:15 pm.  Police were called to the scene of an accident and were advised that a dark colored vehicle pulled out of B Street on to Pennsylvania Ave, striking another vehicle.  The striking vehicle continued west on Pennsylvania Ave fleeing the scene.  No injuries were reported.  On further investigation, police learned that the striking vehicle was a dark colored Volvo, possibly dark blue in color.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Slate Belt Regional Police Department at 610-759-8517.

Media Release – 1/6/2016

Theft
SBRPD is investigating the theft of a “SS360” Drone worth $59.99 stolen from the Turkey Hill in Pen Argyl. Police were called to the Turkey Hill on E. Main St. on 12/28 at approx. 10:50pm. Employees reported that 4 males entered the store and picked up a box containing the drone which was for sale. The males later left and an employee found the empty box in the store. The males were seen leaving in a white four door car, possibly a VW Jetta. 3 of the males appeared to be in their late teens. One male appeared to be in his early 20’s. Fraud
SBRPD is investigating a fraudulent use of a debit card from a resident in Wind Gap PA. On 12/29/2015, police spoke to the victims who related that over $2,300 was removed from their account through the use of an ATM card. The victims reported that their ATM card was still in their possession. The fraudulent transactions occurred in Horsham PA at a Wawa.
 
Theft
SBRPD is investigating the theft of two parking signs from 636 Pen Argyl St., Pen Argyl PA. Two signs were removed from the Forza Building.
Criminal Mischief
SBRPD is investigating a report of Criminal Mischief to a building at 500 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Pen Argyl PA. Police were called to the apartment for a large bay window in an apartment unit was broken between 12/19 and 12/31/2015.
Arrest on Warrant
Dustin Flyte 31 yr old male – Pennsylvania Ave., Pen Argyl PA.
On 1/3/2016 at approx.. 1130pm, Flyte was stopped for a traffic violation on Pennsylvania Ave. An active domestic warrant was out on Flyte from Northampton County. Flyte was taken into custody and turned over to the Northampton County Sheriffs Office.

Simple Assault

Richard Futchko  19 yr old male    E. Main St. Pen Argyl PA

On 12/23/2015, SBRPD arrested Futchko for Simple Assault and related offenses after he assaulted a female inside a residence on E. Main St., Pen Argyl.  Police were called to a domestic dispute at the home and found that Futchko had assaulted a female, but was no longer on scene.  Police obtained an arrest warrant and arrested Futchko later in the day.  Futchko was arraigned and remanded to the Northampton County Prison on $2500 bail.
