Media Release – 10/22/2015

DUI Arrest – Jeremy Miller 37 yr old male – Chokeberry Lane, Stroudsburg PA On 10/22/2015, SBRPD filed charges of DUI and related against Miller after investigating an October 14th traffic accident. The accident happened on 10/14 at 9:00pm in the 1400 block of Bangor Rd in Plainfield Twp. Miller was operating his Cheverolet pick up truck on Bangor Rd when he lost control and struck a brick column off the side of the roadway, overturning the truck. No injuries were reported. Miller was taken into custody and taken to the Northampton County DUI Processing Center for testing. On 10/21, SBRPD received the blood results indicating that Miller was DUI.

Retail Theft Arrest – Kevin Riley 29 yr old male – 500 Block N. Broadway, Wind Gap
On 10/20/2015 at 11:50am, SBRPD responded to a report of a person detained for retail theft at the Giant Food Store, 823 Male Rd, Wind Gap. Police arrested Riley after he was observed attempting to steal two Con-Air Hair Trimmer sets without paying. Riley was charged with felony Retail Theft (3rd offense) and Disorderly Conduct for pushing one of the store staff members. Riley was arraigned at District Justice Schlegel’s office and remanded to the Northampton County Correctional Facility on $5,000/10% bail.

Criminal Trespassing Arrest – Robert Moser 29 yr old male – 200 Block Taft St., Wind Gap
On 10/20/2015 at 11:50pm, SBRPD officers were called to a residence in the first block of S. Lobb Avenue in Pen Argyl for a report of a burglary in progress. Officers arrived on scene and found Moser inside the residence. The victim related that she was asleep and awakened by a noise in a rear room and observed a male inside her home. Officers observed that Moser appeared intoxicated and placed him into custody. Moser was arraigned by Magisterial Justice Capobianco and remanded to the Northampton County Correctional Facility on $15,000 bail. Moser was charged with Criminal Trespass, Loitering and Prowling and Public Drunkenness.

Missing Woman

Slate Belt Regional Police requests your assistance in locating Vanessa Fehnel. Vanessa is a white female, 5’4″, 230lbs, dirty blonde hair, brown eyes, 51 yrs old, last seen wearing scrubs. Vanessa was last heard from at 2:30pm, Tuesday, 10/13/2015. She is driving a 2012 silver Ford Edge, PA Reg – BCO3848 with a “thin blue line” front plate. Next Thursday, October 15th, 2015, the Slate Belt Regional Police Commission will be holding it’s regularly scheduled meeting at 5:30 pm at the Plainfield Twp Municipal Building, 6292 Sullivan Trail, Nazareth PA 18064. Elected officials and community members are invited to attend our “Thank You” event, as the Police Commission members would like to express their thanks to everyone involved in starting the new, Slate Belt Regional Police Department. Please join us at 5:00 pm for light refreshments before the meeting. At 5:30 pm, several elected officials will speak, with the regular Commission meeting to follow.

Theft Investigation  SBRPD is investigating a theft from vehicle which happened in the overnight hours of 10/3/2015 in the 200 block of B St. in Pen Argyl Borough.  The victim related that his wallet and sunglasses were removed from his parked vehicle.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Slate Belt Regional Police at 610-759-8517

Retail Theft Arrest – On 10/3/2015, SBRPD was called to the Giant in Wind Gap Borough for a report of a Retail Theft of condoms.  After viewing the store security video, police found that a 16 yr old juvenile from Bangor was the offender.  A summary citation was issued against the juvenile.

Disorderly Conduct Arrests –  On 10/4/2015 at 2:15pm, SBRPD investigated a report of a fight in the Wind Gap Park on Lehigh St in Wind Gap.  Officers cited a 17 yr old Wind Gap juvenile and 19 yr old, Nolan Smith of Wind Gap for Disorderly Conduct for fighting in the park.  

Harassment Citations Issued –  William Brown – 40 yr old male, Moorestown Rd., Plainfield Twp

Ryan Santamassino – 28 yr old male, Moorestown Rd., Plainfield Twp.

On 10/4/2015 at 9:40pm, SBRPD investigated a disturbance at the Travel Inn, Moorestown Rd, Plainfield Twp.  On scene, police learned that two adult males were involved in an altercation.  Police filed citations against Santamassino and Brown for Harassment.

Arrest on Outstanding Warrant – Rasheed Mack  36 yr old male –  Newark DE

On 9/29/2015 at 10:00pm, while on patrol, a SBRPD officer observed a vehicle in the parking lot of the Wind Gap Park in Wind Gap Borough.  After speaking to the occupants, the officer found that there was an active warrant on Mack out of Monroe County for Failure to Appear.  Mack was taken into custody and turned over to the Monroe County Correctional Facility.

DUI Arrest – Lee Miller  55 yr old male – N. 4th St., Bangor PA

SBRPD filed charges of DUI against Miller on 9/30/2015.  Miller was involved in a one vehicle traffic accident on Sept. 7th @ 9:35pm on Middletown Rd in Plainfield Twp.  Blood results indicated that Miller was operating under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.


DUI Arrest – David Anschau  57 yr old male – Church Rd., Pen Argyl PA

SBRPD filed charges of DUI against Anschau on 9/30/2015.  On September 22 at 8:15 hours, police responded to the area of Church Rd. near Abel Colony Rd in Plainfield Twp. for a report of a reckless driver.  Police located Anschau in the area and placed him in custody for DUI.  Blood results indicated that Anschau was under the influence of alcohol at the time of arrest.  


Theft Arrest – Brian Jones  34 yr old male – Hawk Ave., Wind Gap PA

SBRPD filed charges of Theft and related crimes against Jones on 9/30/2015.  Officers investigated a report of ongoing thefts from Ken’s Auto in Plainfield Twp.  jones was an employee of the business and stole approximately $305.00 in cash from money collected from tows completed by Jones.  

Media Release – 9/28/2015

Theft from Vehicle   SBRPD officers are investigating a theft from a vehicle that happened on 9/25/2015 at approximately 11:30pm on the 600 block of Rasleytown Rd in Plainfield Twp.  Police were called to the home after the owner of the vehicle observed an unknown person standing next to her car in the driveway.  The victim yelled to the person, who then fled on a bicycle.  The victim noted that her purse was taken from her unlocked car.  

SBRPD officers arrived and followed the bicycle tracks and recovered the victim’s purse and contents along the way.  Officers believe that the thief fled along the bike trail / walking path in the area.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Slate Belt Regional Police Department at 610-759-8517.  Police remind everyone to keep all doors locked on your vehicles.   

Theft of ATV – Arrest  Edward Schenk  63 yr old male  W/ Laurel Ave, Pen Argyl Pa

SBRPD filed theft charges against Schenk after investigating a report of the theft of an ATV  and  motorcycle engine from Schenk’s garage.  The victim arranged to keep the ATV and engine at Schenk’s residence.  On September 11th, the victim reported to police that he went to the residence to work on the ATV and both the ATV and engine were gone.  Police investigated and found that the ATV had been sold and the motorcycle engine had been salvaged.   Apparently, Schenk had owed another individual money and used the ATV and motorcycle engine to pay off the debt.  Police later recovered the ATV which had been purchased by a resident of Lansdale, Montgomery County.  Schenk was arraigned on 9/25 at District Magistrate Schlegel’s office in Wind Gap and given $20,000/ unsecured bail.

Vehicle Break In –  Stolen Purse

SBRPD is investigating a vehicle break in reported on 9/12.  The break in happened in the overnight hours in the 1200 block of Blue Valley Drive in Pen Argyl.  Police responded and found that an unknown person threw a cinder block into a car window and removed a Coach purse.  On 9/13, police were then notified that the purse was later found hanging on the victim’s back door – minus cash.

Retail Theft – Christopher Stafford  32 yr old male – Kesslersville Rd., Nazareth PA
On 9/8/2015 at 2:10pm, SBRPD responded to a report of a retail theft at the Giant Food Store, 837 Male Rd in Wind Gap PA.  Police learned that Stafford walked out of the Giant with over $80.00 in groceries and was stopped by loss prevention personnel.  Stafford was cited for summary Retail Theft and released.
