Slate Belt Regional Police Commission Meeting: 4/7/2020

The Slate Belt Regional Police Commission will be holding their regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 7th at 5:00pm. In accordance with Governor Wolf’s “Stay-at-Home” Order issued on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, the Commission members will be participating from home via the “Zoom” platform.

Public comments are welcome when the Citizen’s Comments portion of the meeting is announced. The Slate Belt Regional Police Commission Meeting shall be conducted in a professional manner. Disturbances will not be tolerated and offenders may be muted, or denied access to the remainder of the meeting should infractions occur.

Media Release – 8/8/2019

Home Invasion Robbery

On 8/7/2019 at 7:20pm, the Slate Belt Regional Police Department was dispatched to a residence in the 1700 block of Delabole Rd., in Plainfield Twp. Northampton County for a report of a 66 yr old male who had suffered a gunshot wound. Police were later advised that the victim was shot twice in a home invasion robbery.

Police arrived on scene and learned that two male suspects came to the victim’s residence, were let inside by a female friend of the victim and demanded money. During the robbery, one suspect shot the victim two times in the leg. Both suspects fled after taking a safe, which was inside the home. The victim suffered non-life threatening wounds to his leg and was transported to St. Lukes – Fountain Hill. The female who was also on scene at the time of the incident was uninjured.

The suspects were described as a W/M wearing possibly a tan shirt and tan pants and B/M with dreadlocks, possibly in his early 20’s wearing a red shirt and red baseball cap with the brim turned up. Both fled in an unknown direction in an unknown vehicle.

It is unknown at this time the contents of the safe or additional suspect information. SBRPD will update media outlets with additional information as the investigation progresses.

Arrested on Warrant

On June 6, 2019, SBRPD was called to the Giant in the Wind Gap Shopping Center in Wind Gap Borough for a report of a male who was passed out at that location.  Officers arrived and found the male in front of the store. Officers found that he was hiking along the Appalachian Trail for the past few weeks. He provided officers with a false name.  After investigation, police determined that the hiker was wanted out of Connecticut for a Probation Violation with the original charge being Possession of Child Pornography. He was taken into custody and charged with being a Fugitive from Justice.  He was remanded to the Northampton County Prison.

Endangering the Welfare of a Child / Possession of a Controlled Substance / DUI
On 4/14/2019 at 6:15pm, a SBRPD officer stopped a vehicle in the 6200 block of Sullivan Trail. The officer located drug paraphernalia and marijuana inside the car. There was a two year old child passenger inside the vehicle. The officer charged a 27 year old male from Allentown with the above charges. He was transported to the Northampton County Prison for arraignment.

Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

On 4/3/2019 at 12:07 am, SBRPD officers were called to a 911 cell phone call in the area of Berhel Rd in Plainfield Twp.  Officers observed two people inside a car parked along the roadway. Upon checking on the occupants of the car, officers located Marijuana, Methamphetamine, scales, syringes, various pills and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.  Officers seized the items and took a 35 year old male from Nazareth and a 28 year old female from Jim Thorpe into custody. Both were transported to the Northampton County Prison for arraignment.

Possession of Heroin / Paraphernalia
On 3/28/2019 at 9:40 am, SBRPD officers served an arrest warrant on a 34 yr old male on W. Sixth St. in Wind Gap Borough. Inside the home, officers observed drug paraphernalia and heroin packets in plain view. Officers seized 13 heroin packets, various pills and other drug related items from the home. The officers arrested the male, who was remanded to the Northampton County Correctional Center on $25,000 bail.

Possession of Methamphetamine / Paraphernalia
On 3/26/2019 at 1:08 am, an SBRPD officer stopped a vehicle on S. Broadway for traffic violations. Inside, the officer located methamphetamine and needles along with various items of drug paraphernalia. The officer arrested a 36 yr old female from Bethlehem and a 29 year old male from Easton for drug charges.

On 3/17/2019 at 1:30 pm, SBRPD officers responded to a report of a dispute on W. Main St. in Pen Argyl Borough. Police learned that a 52 yr old male from the 200 block of W. Main St. in Pen Argyl was involved in an argument with residents of an apartment in the 200 block of W. Main St. During the argument, the male pushed the resident. A Harassment citation was issued against the male.

Possession of Controlled Substance
46 yr old female – Pen Argyl
On 3/5/2019 an officer conducted a traffic stop for a motor vehicle infraction. Upon further investigation, drugs were located in the vehicle and officers applied for a Search Warrant. Upon completion of the vehicle search numerous drugs and paraphernalia were discovered. The female was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Paraphernalia and traffic offenses.

On 3/5/2019 Officers were dispatched to a residence on N Westbrook Avenue, Pen Argyl for a domestic disturbance between a male and female. Police arrested the male who has been charged with Harassment.
