2017 Slate Belt Regional Junior Police Academy

The Slate Belt Regional Police Department’s Junior Police Academy has concluded for the 16th year.  Students experienced a tour of the Lehigh Valley International Airport Fire/EMS/Police, CPR training with Wind Gap Ambulance, a MedEvac helicopter landing,  Bethlehem Fire Department Bomb Squad demonstration, PSP Forensic Services Unit demonstration, a demonstration of Tasers and Pepper Spray by SBRPD, a tour of the Monroe County Correctional Facility, a fire department demonstration by the Wind Gap Borough, Plainfield Township and Pen Argyl Borough Fire Departments, Lehigh County Coroner’s Office presentation, a tour of the Bethlehem City Police Department, Defensive Tactics instruction with Lehigh University PD, K-9 demonstration from Bushkill Township PD and a traffic stop simulation with SBRPD officers.

We thank all those who have supported and/or sponsored the Junior Police Academy.  We especially thank the parents and students of the class of 2017.

2016 Slate Belt Regional Junior Police Academy 

Once again, the Plainfield Twp/Slate Belt Regional Junior Police Academy class has reached a successful conclusion. Officer Robert Long has conducted the class for the 15th year. That’s 15 years at approximately 30 participants…that’s 450 kids to you and me. Here is a look through the years of the participants. We can not commend Officer Long enough for his dedication and commitment to a program which consistently provides top notch information and activities to the youth of our community. We wish to thank all the sponsors, presenters, support staff and officers for assisting Officer Long in providing this program. Thank you to the parents for entrusting us with your children and finally, thank you to the participants who always make each year memorable. Once again…great job Bobby Long!!

The application period for the Slate Belt Regional Jr. Police Academy has now closed. The Jr Police Academy will run from June 27 – July 1, 2016 at the Slate Belt Regional Police Headquarters at 6292 Sullivan Trail, Plainfield Township. Enrollment is open to young adults between the ages of 12 and 15 years of age, that live within the Pen Argyl School District. We are pleased to announce the dates for the 2016 Slate Belt Regional Junior Police Academy – June 27 to July 1, 2016. If you have any questions about the academy please email Officer Long at Rlong@slatebeltpd.com. Applications will be available in April for boys and girls ages 12 to 15 who attend the Pen Argyl Area School District.
