STOLEN VEHICLE – 1994 DODGE RAM 1500, Blue with a cracked rear passenger tail light lens. Truck has a Chevrolet Bumper. This truck was reported stolen from the 1400 block of Church Rd, Plainfield Twp. on 7/13/2017.

Burglary, Criminal Trespassing, Receiving Stolen Property, Criminal Mischief, Theft

Zachary Hoffman  22 yr old male – Heitzman Rd., Pen Argyl PA

On July 10th, 2017 at 8:34am SBRPD officers were dispatched to a residence on the 300 block of E. Third St., Wind Gap Borough for a burglary.  Officers found no one inside the home.  The house had no one living inside and was for sale.  Inside the residence, police found a PA registration plate that belonged to Hoffman.  Also inside, police found clothes and a construction sign which, after being interviewed, Hoffman admitted to stealing.  Police interviewed Hoffman on July 11th and through that interview, charged him with the above crimes.  Hoffman did admit to being inside the residence and damaging the interior.  Hoffman was arraigned and remanded to the Northampton County Prison on $50,000 bail.

Indecent Exposure, Poss. Of a Controlled Substance, Disorderly Conduct and Public Drunkenness
Wayne Yerkie 53 yr old male – Wind Gap PA

On July 8 at approx. 7:10pm, SBRPD was dispatched to the area of the Travel Inn in Plainfield Twp for a report of a male walking around naked and intoxicated. Officers arrived and located Wayne Yerkie in the parking lot of the Wendy’s Restaurant. Yerkie was wearing only a tank top and was highly intoxicated. Yerkie was placed into custody. Witnesses advised that Yerkie had been in the lot of the Travel Inn and removed his pants, exposing his genitals. Police recovered Yerkie’s pants, finding controlled substances in his pockets. Yerkie was arraigned by District Magistrate Zito and remanded to the Northampton County Prison for failing to post $10,000/10% bail.

Jason Grim 41 yr old male – Pen Argyl PA
On July 8 at approx. 10:30pm, SBRPD stopped a vehicle operated by Grim on the 200 block of West Main St., Pen Argyl PA. Grim was wanted by Lehigh County for a Probation Violation. SBRPD officers took Grim into custody. Grim was later transferred into the custody of the Northampton County Prison.

Possession of Marijuana, Driving While License is Suspended, Driving Unregistered Vehicle and Related Traffic Violations

Kevin Ahner   54 yr old male    Lehighton PA

On 6/19/2017, SBRPD officers stopped Ahner’s Jeep for reckless driving on Sullivan Trail in Plainfield Twp.  When stopped, police observed that Ahner appeared to have something in his mouth.  Ahner attempted to swallow the item, but could not.  Police eventually were able to have Ahner remove the item, which turned out to be a baggie of marijuana.  Officers found that Ahner was driving with a suspended license and expired registration.  SBRPD filed charges on 7-6-2017 at District Magistrate Schlegel’s Office in Wind Gap PA.

Matthew Long  18 yr old male   Wind Gap PA

On 7-2-2017, SBRPD officers stopped Long for speeding on E. Third St. in Wind Gap.  The officer smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.  Police found marijuana and paraphernalia inside the vehicle.  Charges were filed on 7-6-2017 at District Magistrate Schlegel’s Office in Wind Gap PA.

Retail Theft 
KMART 803 Male Rd. Wind Gap Borough
Police are investigating a Retail Theft that happened at the Kmart on Male Rd. in Wind Gap. On 6-17-2017 at approx. 1:07pm, SBRPD officers were called to the Kmart for a Retail Theft committed by a male who had since fled the store of foot. The suspect stole a Stanley, yellow utility knife valued at $8.99. When stopped by staff, the suspect fled the area. Theft   Holiday Hair Salon  Wind Gap Plaza, Male Rd. Wind Gap Borough

On 6-16-2017, a Good Samaritan came to headquarters with three women’s wallets which were found on Third St. in Wind Gap Borough.  SBRPD officers tracked down the owners of the wallets who all worked at the Holiday Hair Salon in the Wind Gap Plaza.  The employees realized that the wallets were removed from their purses which were located in a back room in the salon.  Cash had been stolen from the wallets.  Officers were advised that a female came in to the salon earlier and went to the rear of the salon.  The female had an appointment, but left after coming out of the back of the salon.  She was last observed on the video jogging to her vehicle.  (Poss. A dark colored SUV).  Police are looking for the female in the pictures.  If anyone knows the identity of this female, please contact the Slate Belt Regional Police Department at (610) 759-8517.

Criminal Mischief – Wind Gap Park, Wind Gap Borough
On 5-30-2017, police investigated a report of Criminal Mischief to the child’s carousel at the Wind Gap Park. Unknown persons tilted the carousel in such a way as to break the center post of the ride. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Slate Belt Regional Police Department 610.759.8517

Criminal Mischief – Weona Park, Pen Argyl Borough
On 4-13-2017, Slate Belt Regional Police responded to the Weona Park for a report of Criminal Mischief. It was reported that at 8:30pm on April 10th, a person damaged 5 cedar fence slats on a park fence near the tot lot. Police reviewed surveillance video of the park and observed a known juvenile male damaging the fence. On 6-3-2017, after reviewing the video, police filed a citation for Criminal Mischief against a 16 year old Pen Argyl male.

Theft of Flowers – Weona Park, Pen Argyl Borough
On 6-5-2017, police investigated a report of a theft of perennials from the Weona Park. These flowers were planted in front of the Community Center and appeared to have been dug up. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Slate Belt Regional Police Department 610.759.8517

Theft of Flowers – 400 Block Williams Street
On 6-3-2017, police were called to a residence in the 400 block of Williams St for a theft of flowers. Unknown persons removed 8-10 pansies from the garden of the home. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Slate Belt Regional Police Department.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – E. West Street, Wind Gap Borough

On 5-26 -2017 at approximately 11:00pm, an officer noted a 2001 BMW traveling on E. West Street in Wind Gap Borough.  The driver, a female, seeing the police vehicle, turned into a driveway on E. West St.  As he passed the BMW, the officer checked the registration plate of the vehicle and learned that the vehicle was listed as stolen from Butler Township, Carbon County.  The officer then pulled back to the vehicle, finding it abandoned in the driveway with no occupants.  A search of the area did not reveal the driver or her male passenger.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Slate Belt Regional Police Department.

Theft – Sherrie Ann Walsh Saylorsburg PA

SBRPD charged Walsh with theft after receiving a report that Walsh, a former employee of Parkhill Realty in Plainfield Township, stole $11,724 from the company.  Walsh, a bookkeeper in the company, came into police headquarters on May 15th and admitted taking funds from the business while employed.  SBRPD arrested Walsh on charges of felony Theft.  Walsh was arraigned and placed in the Northampton County Correctional Facility due to failing to post $35,000 bail.

Armed Robbery         

Penn Jersey            989 W. Pennsylvania Ave – Plainfield Twp

 At approximately 10:57pm on April 30, 2017, SBRPD was dispatched to a report of an ARMED ROBBERY at the Penn Jersey gas station/convenience store in Plainfield Twp.  The robbery occurred at approximately 10:30pm.  The male clerk advised officers that a W/M came in to the store demanding cash and cigarettes.  The male entered the store, lifted up his sweatshirt to reveal a silver handgun tucked in his waistband.  After taking cash (approx.. $860) and several cartons of cigarettes, the male fled out of the front of the store to a vehicle, possibly a crossover type vehicle.  The vehicle then fled south on Rte 512 toward Wind Gap.  The male was described as being approx.. 6ft – 6’3” tall, wearing a hooded medium blue jacket, green brimmed baseball hat and a red bandanna covering his face.  The suspect appears to be the same as other armed robberies in the area.  SBRPD will be coordinating investigations with these departments.
