Media Release – 10/1/2015

 

DUI Arrest – Lee Miller  55 yr old male – N. 4th St., Bangor PA

SBRPD filed charges of DUI against Miller on 9/30/2015.  Miller was involved in a one vehicle traffic accident on Sept. 7th @ 9:35pm on Middletown Rd in Plainfield Twp.  Blood results indicated that Miller was operating under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

 

DUI Arrest – David Anschau  57 yr old male – Church Rd., Pen Argyl PA

SBRPD filed charges of DUI against Anschau on 9/30/2015.  On September 22 at 8:15 hours, police responded to the area of Church Rd. near Abel Colony Rd in Plainfield Twp. for a report of a reckless driver.  Police located Anschau in the area and placed him in custody for DUI.  Blood results indicated that Anschau was under the influence of alcohol at the time of arrest.  

 

Theft Arrest – Brian Jones  34 yr old male – Hawk Ave., Wind Gap PA

SBRPD filed charges of Theft and related crimes against Jones on 9/30/2015.  Officers investigated a report of ongoing thefts from Ken’s Auto in Plainfield Twp.  jones was an employee of the business and stole approximately $305.00 in cash from money collected from tows completed by Jones.  

Media Release – 9/28/2015

Theft from Vehicle   SBRPD officers are investigating a theft from a vehicle that happened on 9/25/2015 at approximately 11:30pm on the 600 block of Rasleytown Rd in Plainfield Twp.  Police were called to the home after the owner of the vehicle observed an unknown person standing next to her car in the driveway.  The victim yelled to the person, who then fled on a bicycle.  The victim noted that her purse was taken from her unlocked car.  

SBRPD officers arrived and followed the bicycle tracks and recovered the victim’s purse and contents along the way.  Officers believe that the thief fled along the bike trail / walking path in the area.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Slate Belt Regional Police Department at 610-759-8517.  Police remind everyone to keep all doors locked on your vehicles.   

Theft of ATV – Arrest  Edward Schenk  63 yr old male  W/ Laurel Ave, Pen Argyl Pa

SBRPD filed theft charges against Schenk after investigating a report of the theft of an ATV  and  motorcycle engine from Schenk’s garage.  The victim arranged to keep the ATV and engine at Schenk’s residence.  On September 11th, the victim reported to police that he went to the residence to work on the ATV and both the ATV and engine were gone.  Police investigated and found that the ATV had been sold and the motorcycle engine had been salvaged.   Apparently, Schenk had owed another individual money and used the ATV and motorcycle engine to pay off the debt.  Police later recovered the ATV which had been purchased by a resident of Lansdale, Montgomery County.  Schenk was arraigned on 9/25 at District Magistrate Schlegel’s office in Wind Gap and given $20,000/ unsecured bail.

Vehicle Break In –  Stolen Purse

SBRPD is investigating a vehicle break in reported on 9/12.  The break in happened in the overnight hours in the 1200 block of Blue Valley Drive in Pen Argyl.  Police responded and found that an unknown person threw a cinder block into a car window and removed a Coach purse.  On 9/13, police were then notified that the purse was later found hanging on the victim’s back door – minus cash.

Media Release – 9/10/2015

Retail Theft – Christopher Stafford  32 yr old male – Kesslersville Rd., Nazareth PA
On 9/8/2015 at 2:10pm, SBRPD responded to a report of a retail theft at the Giant Food Store, 837 Male Rd in Wind Gap PA.  Police learned that Stafford walked out of the Giant with over $80.00 in groceries and was stopped by loss prevention personnel.  Stafford was cited for summary Retail Theft and released.

Possession of Marijuana / DUI – Leonardo Mejia  21 yr old male – Spring Garden Street, Easton PA

SBRPD filed charges of Possession of a Small Amount of Marijuana and DUI after arresting Mejia on August 12th, 2015.  Mejia was stopped for erratic driving on the 6100 block of Sullivan Trail in Plainfield Twp on August 12th at 1150pm.  Mejia was found to be under the influence and in possession of marijuana.  Charges were filed at District Magistrate Schlegel’s office in Wind Gap on 9/4/2015.

Aggravated Assault and Related Offenses – Charlie Castillo 53 yr old male – W. 8th St., Wind Gap PA
On 8/30/2015 at approximately 4:25pm, SBRPD officers responded to a report of an assault in the first block of W. 8th St in Wind Gap. Police arrived on scene and arrested Castillo after Castillo assaulted two people on scene. The male and female victims reported that at approximately 4:15pm, they had returned home and were confronted by Castillo. Castillo was upset because he believed that the victims had parked in his parking space. Castillo punched the male in the face and kicked him while on the ground. He then punched the female in the face. Castillo then grabbed a shovel from the rear of his vehicle and threatened both victims.
Castillo was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, Terroristic Threats.

Media Release – 9/1/2015

Aggravated Assault – Joel Fatjo 32 yr old male – Jones Hill Rd, Plainfield Twp On 9/1/2015 at approximately 1230am, SBRPD responded to a residence on the 700 block of Jones Hill Rd in Plainfield Twp for a report of a stabbing. Officers arrived on scene and found that Fatjo had stabbed another male inside the residence after an altercation. Fatjo sustained minor facial injuries during the fight. Paramedics transported both Fatjo and the victim to separate hospitals for treatment. The victim’s wound appeared to be non-life threatening. Charges were completed for Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault and related charges. Fatjo was taken into custody from St. Luke’s Andreson Campus and arraigned on charges . Fatjo was released on $75,000/unsecured bail.

Media Release – 8/25/2015

Public Drunkenness / Disorderly Conduct – John Campbell  49 yr old male – Roseto PA

On 8/17/2015 at approximately 8:10pm, SBRPD investigated a report of a male sleeping on the concrete in Weona Park.  Police approached Campbell who was asleep on the ground.  Upon awaking, Campbell became agitated and used foul language at officers on scene, threatening them, near residents who were in the park.  Campbell was found to be intoxicated and was cited for Disorderly Conduct and Public Drunkenness.

Thefts from Vehicle
SBRPD is investigating two separate incidents of thefts from unlocked cars in the overnight hours over the past several days.
On 8/17, police investigated a theft of $350 from a wallet left in a vehicle overnight in the 900 block of Buck Dr in Plainfield Twp.
On 8/23, police investigated a theft of loose change and a GPS unit from a vehicle parked in the first block of S. Lehigh Ave., Wind Gap.

Phone Scam
SBRPD received a report of a phone scam on 8/22. The Plainfield Twp resident advised police that on 8/19 an unknown person with an Indian accent called, requesting permission to remote in to their computer to fix a Windows 10 virus. The victim reported that on 8/22, another person called claiming to be from the IRS demanding money.
SBRPD advises that the IRS does not call residents to request money. Do not give checking account routing or account numbers to anyone over the phone unless you are positive of who you are doing business with.

Public Drunkenness – Michael Mcnamara – 33 yr old male Alpha Ave, Wind Gap PA
SBRPD cited Mcnamara for Public Drunkenness after investigating an incident on 8/23 at 4:15am in the 300 block of Delaware Ave., Wind Gap. Police were called to a residence for the report of a subject ringing the doorbell of the home. Police arrived on scene and located Mcnamara on the back porch of the home, intoxicated. Mcnamara, of Alpha Rd. in Wind Gap told police that he was trying to get into his home. Police filed a citation for Public Drunkenness against Mcnamara and took him to his residence.
