Recovered Stolen Vehicle – E. West Street, Wind Gap Borough

On 5-26 -2017 at approximately 11:00pm, an officer noted a 2001 BMW traveling on E. West Street in Wind Gap Borough.  The driver, a female, seeing the police vehicle, turned into a driveway on E. West St.  As he passed the BMW, the officer checked the registration plate of the vehicle and learned that the vehicle was listed as stolen from Butler Township, Carbon County.  The officer then pulled back to the vehicle, finding it abandoned in the driveway with no occupants.  A search of the area did not reveal the driver or her male passenger.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Slate Belt Regional Police Department.

Theft – Sherrie Ann Walsh Saylorsburg PA

SBRPD charged Walsh with theft after receiving a report that Walsh, a former employee of Parkhill Realty in Plainfield Township, stole $11,724 from the company.  Walsh, a bookkeeper in the company, came into police headquarters on May 15th and admitted taking funds from the business while employed.  SBRPD arrested Walsh on charges of felony Theft.  Walsh was arraigned and placed in the Northampton County Correctional Facility due to failing to post $35,000 bail.

Armed Robbery         

Penn Jersey            989 W. Pennsylvania Ave – Plainfield Twp

 At approximately 10:57pm on April 30, 2017, SBRPD was dispatched to a report of an ARMED ROBBERY at the Penn Jersey gas station/convenience store in Plainfield Twp.  The robbery occurred at approximately 10:30pm.  The male clerk advised officers that a W/M came in to the store demanding cash and cigarettes.  The male entered the store, lifted up his sweatshirt to reveal a silver handgun tucked in his waistband.  After taking cash (approx.. $860) and several cartons of cigarettes, the male fled out of the front of the store to a vehicle, possibly a crossover type vehicle.  The vehicle then fled south on Rte 512 toward Wind Gap.  The male was described as being approx.. 6ft – 6’3” tall, wearing a hooded medium blue jacket, green brimmed baseball hat and a red bandanna covering his face.  The suspect appears to be the same as other armed robberies in the area.  SBRPD will be coordinating investigations with these departments.

DUI      Shelley Brearman   44 yr old female   Wind Gap PA

SBRPD charged Brearman with DUI after she was involved in a one vehicle traffic accident on S. Broadway at Male Rd, Wind Gap PA on 4/16/2017.  Brearman was operating a 2010 Mazda on S. Broadway and ran off of the side of the roadway, striking a utility pole.  Charges of DUI and Careless Driving were filed at District Court in Wind Gap PA.

Simple Assault            Brett Lawson  38 yr old male             Pen Argyl PA

On 4/26/2017, SBRPD investigated an assault at the Republican Club, 10 W. Main St. in Pen Argyl.   Police learned that earlier in the night, Lawson assaulted another patron inside the bar, grabbing the patron who was seated on a stool.  Charges of Simple Assault were filed at District Court Bangor.

Disorderly Conduct    Loren Grosse  29 yr old female          Bangor PA

On 4-25-2017, SBRPD responded to the Kmart on Male Rd., Wind Gap PA for a report of a Disorderly Person who had just left the store.  Police learned that Grosse had been inside the store and created a disturbance, using foul language and knocking over display items.  Grosse was cited for Disorderly Conduct.

Arrested on Warrant
Carmen James Sickles 26 yr old male – Henryville PA
On 4/11/2017 at approx. 1030pm, a SBRPD officer spotted a suspicious vehicle parked in a rear lot of the Travel Inn, Plainfield Twp, occupied by 2 individuals. The officer checked and found that Sickles, an occupant of the car, was wanted on a warrant out of Monroe County for Failure to Appear. SBRPD took Sickles in to custody and transported him to the Monroe County Correctional Center.
 
Arrest – Terroristic Threats
Brendan James Buss 38 yr old male – Lefevre Rd., Plainfield Twp
On 4-19-2017, SBRPD arrested Brendan Buss for Terroristic Threats after investigating a threatening email that was sent to a PA Board of Probation and Parole Officer. Buss related in the email, in part, that he wanted to “see her and everyone with a badge die”. Police filed charged for Terroristic Threats. Buss was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Schlegel and remanded to the Northampton County Correctional Facility under $100,000 bail/10%.
 
Arrest – Simple Assault
Jordan Davis 23 yr old male – Allentown PA
On 4-19-2017 at approximately 5:45pm, SBRPD investigated an assault on N. Broadway in Wind Gap Borough. Police were called to the area of the Arby’s in Wind Gap for a report of a male assaulting a female. Both left the area prior to police arriving. The female was located at the self-serve laundry in Wind Gap. Police learned that Davis had assaulted the female while inside a vehicle, then left the area. Police later located Davis and took him into custody. He was charged with Simple Assault, Harassment and Disorderly Conduct. Davis was arraigned by Magisterial Judge Grifo and released on $5,000 unsecured bail.

Media Release – 3/20/2017

On March 29th, 2017 at approximately 4:37pm, SBRPD responded to a report of a suicidal male in the 400 block of Broad St. in Pen Argyl Borough. It was reported to police that the male had stabbed himself in the neck. Officers located the male near the 300 block of Chestnut Street in the area of a quarry. The male had climbed a tree and was approximately 30 feet from the ground, above the quarry and holding a knife.

EMS and Fire personnel were dispatched. Through the course of approximately one hour, a Sergeant of the SBRPD was able to talk the male down from the tree and take him into custody. The male was transported to St. Lukes Hospital for treatment. The male also had active warrants from SBRPD on narcotics and other charges.

Once again, a great job by Sgt. Jonathon Hoadley, Officer Shannon Young, Officer Christopher Ryan, Detective Eric Donaldson, Officer Bryan Walczer, Officer Matthew Messinger and Sergeant David Strawn.

Media Release – 3/24/2017

At approximately 8:30 am, SBRPD officers were dispatched to the 200 block of N. Lehigh Ave. for a report of a pedestrian who was observed bleeding from the head.  Police arrived on scene and located a male with a laceration to his head laying unconscious on the sidewalk.

Officers were unsure if the male was struck by a vehicle or had been assaulted.  Police secured the scene.  After investigating the scene, police believe that the male was not struck nor was he a victim of foul play.

Possession of Marijuana / Growing-Manufacturing

Patrick Fistler  52 yr old male    Frable St. Plainfield Twp.

On 3/18/2017, SBRPD was called to Fistler’s residence for an unrelated call for service.  Upon entering the home, police detected a strong odor of marijuana inside.  Police located jars containing marijuana, 4 small “Solo Cups” containing marijuana plants and 6 larger plant containers with marijuana plants contained in soil.  Fistler had these plants growing in a closet inside the home.  The closet was lined with silver foil, had special lighting and fans set up inside the closet.   Fistler was arraigned and later released on $5000 bail.

Fraud, Forgery, Theft by Deception
Vanessa Gordon 30 yr old Female
Norwood St., Newark NJ
On Saturday, March 11th SBRPD was called to the Wells Fargo Bank on N. Broadway in Wind Gap Borough for a report of an individual attempting to cash a fraudulent check. A female, later found to be Gordon, was inside the bank and attempted to cash a $1,689 check which was made out to a customer at the bank but, Gordon provided out of state identification raising the suspicions of bank employees. When officers arrived on scene, Gordon had already fled. Police located Gordon near the S. Broadway and Mechanic Street. When police pulled up to her, she ran into an alleyway, but was taken into custody a short distance from the scene. Gordon was taken in to custody and later arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Yetter. Bail was set at $25,000. Gordon was remanded to the Northampton County Prison.

Shawn Senick 29 yr old Male — S. Front St. Philadelphia PA
On March 10th, SBRPD was called to the Merchants Bank on N. Broadway in Wind Gap Borough for a report that two individuals came into the bank on 3-9-2017 and cashed two fraudulent checks totaling over $4800. Images of the individuals show them coming into the bank minutes apart. Merchants Bank alerted other branches and on 3/10/17, the same two individuals came to the Merchants Bank in Forks Township to attempt the same crime. Bank employees alerted police and the two suspects were arrested by Forks PD. On 3/13/17, the Senick’s (brothers) were arraigned for SBRPD charges in front of Magisterial District Judge Schlegel and both were placed in the Northampton County Prison on $100,000 bail.

Disorderly Conduct/Harassment
Frederick Klinger 56 yr old Male
W. Pennsylvania Ave, Pen Argyl PA
On March 12th at approximately 8:20pm, SBRPD was called to the Giant on Male Rd. in Wind Gap Borough for a report of a disorderly person. When officers arrived, the person (Klinger) was already gone. It was reported that Klinger attempted to return approx. $20.00 in meat for cash. When he was advised by employees that he had no receipt and could not get cash, he became belligerent, using obscene language directed toward employees. Police later located Klinger who admitted arguing with employees. Summary citations were filed at District Magistrate Schlegel’s office.

Possession of Heroin

Delabole Rd, Pen Argyl PA
On February 23rd at approx. 9:20pm, SBRPD stopped a vehicle on Sullivan Trail in Plainfield Twp for a traffic violation. Stenlake, a passenger in the vehicle was found to be in possession of 33 clear plastic baggies of heroin, wax paper containing heroin and miscellaneous paraphernalia. SBRPD filed charges of Possession of Heroin at Magisterial District Judge Schlegel’s office.

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol
Amanda Fox 23 yr old Female
Cibby St., Easton PA
On March 5th at approx. 8:50pm, a SBRPD officer stopped Fox for traffic violations in the 400 block of Broad St in Pen Argyl Borough. Fox failed field coordination tests and was taken to the Easton DUI Center for BAC% testing. Charges were filed at Magisterial Judge Zito’s office.

Possession of Methamphetamine
James Woolley 38 yr old Male
W. Main St., Pen Argyl PA
On March 9, 2017, SBRPD was investigating an incident involving James Woolley in the first block of Pen Argyl St. in Pen Argyl. While conducting their investigation, they found a clear plastic baggie containing methamphetamine on Woolley. SBRPD filed charges for Possession of Controlled Substances at Magisterial Judge Zito’s office.

Aggravated Assault and Related Offenses     Pen Argyl Borough

Gregory Bates  39 yr old male   Bangor Rd., Plainfield Twp PA

On 3-2-2017 at approx. 7:02 am, SBRPD responded to a report of a domestic dispute in progress.  Officers arrived on scene and learned that Bates had fled prior to officers arriving on scene.  Bates is accused of entering a residence in the 100 block of N. Harding Ave.  The caller was Bates’ wife – being separated from him and living in Pen Argyl.

Bates exited his car, taking a pick ax from the vehicle.  Bates gained entry to the home through the basement.  Bates threatened the victim, raising the ax and threatening to kill the victim.  The victim called police and Bates fled.  Police obtained a warrant for Bates and at approx. 1:00pm and located Bates at a residence in the 1100 block of Bangor Rd.  He was taken into custody with no issue and transported to MDJ Zito’s court for arraignment.  Bail was set at $20,000 / 10% which was posted.  A preliminary hearing is set for March 16th.
