Media Release – 3/20/2017

On March 29th, 2017 at approximately 4:37pm, SBRPD responded to a report of a suicidal male in the 400 block of Broad St. in Pen Argyl Borough. It was reported to police that the male had stabbed himself in the neck. Officers located the male near the 300 block of Chestnut Street in the area of a quarry. The male had climbed a tree and was approximately 30 feet from the ground, above the quarry and holding a knife.

EMS and Fire personnel were dispatched. Through the course of approximately one hour, a Sergeant of the SBRPD was able to talk the male down from the tree and take him into custody. The male was transported to St. Lukes Hospital for treatment. The male also had active warrants from SBRPD on narcotics and other charges.

Once again, a great job by Sgt. Jonathon Hoadley, Officer Shannon Young, Officer Christopher Ryan, Detective Eric Donaldson, Officer Bryan Walczer, Officer Matthew Messinger and Sergeant David Strawn.

Media Release – 3/24/2017

At approximately 8:30 am, SBRPD officers were dispatched to the 200 block of N. Lehigh Ave. for a report of a pedestrian who was observed bleeding from the head.  Police arrived on scene and located a male with a laceration to his head laying unconscious on the sidewalk.

Officers were unsure if the male was struck by a vehicle or had been assaulted.  Police secured the scene.  After investigating the scene, police believe that the male was not struck nor was he a victim of foul play.

Possession of Marijuana / Growing-Manufacturing

Patrick Fistler  52 yr old male    Frable St. Plainfield Twp.

On 3/18/2017, SBRPD was called to Fistler’s residence for an unrelated call for service.  Upon entering the home, police detected a strong odor of marijuana inside.  Police located jars containing marijuana, 4 small “Solo Cups” containing marijuana plants and 6 larger plant containers with marijuana plants contained in soil.  Fistler had these plants growing in a closet inside the home.  The closet was lined with silver foil, had special lighting and fans set up inside the closet.   Fistler was arraigned and later released on $5000 bail.

Fraud, Forgery, Theft by Deception
Vanessa Gordon 30 yr old Female
Norwood St., Newark NJ
On Saturday, March 11th SBRPD was called to the Wells Fargo Bank on N. Broadway in Wind Gap Borough for a report of an individual attempting to cash a fraudulent check. A female, later found to be Gordon, was inside the bank and attempted to cash a $1,689 check which was made out to a customer at the bank but, Gordon provided out of state identification raising the suspicions of bank employees. When officers arrived on scene, Gordon had already fled. Police located Gordon near the S. Broadway and Mechanic Street. When police pulled up to her, she ran into an alleyway, but was taken into custody a short distance from the scene. Gordon was taken in to custody and later arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Yetter. Bail was set at $25,000. Gordon was remanded to the Northampton County Prison.

Shawn Senick 29 yr old Male — S. Front St. Philadelphia PA
On March 10th, SBRPD was called to the Merchants Bank on N. Broadway in Wind Gap Borough for a report that two individuals came into the bank on 3-9-2017 and cashed two fraudulent checks totaling over $4800. Images of the individuals show them coming into the bank minutes apart. Merchants Bank alerted other branches and on 3/10/17, the same two individuals came to the Merchants Bank in Forks Township to attempt the same crime. Bank employees alerted police and the two suspects were arrested by Forks PD. On 3/13/17, the Senick’s (brothers) were arraigned for SBRPD charges in front of Magisterial District Judge Schlegel and both were placed in the Northampton County Prison on $100,000 bail.

Disorderly Conduct/Harassment
Frederick Klinger 56 yr old Male
W. Pennsylvania Ave, Pen Argyl PA
On March 12th at approximately 8:20pm, SBRPD was called to the Giant on Male Rd. in Wind Gap Borough for a report of a disorderly person. When officers arrived, the person (Klinger) was already gone. It was reported that Klinger attempted to return approx. $20.00 in meat for cash. When he was advised by employees that he had no receipt and could not get cash, he became belligerent, using obscene language directed toward employees. Police later located Klinger who admitted arguing with employees. Summary citations were filed at District Magistrate Schlegel’s office.

Possession of Heroin

On February 23rd at approx. 9:20pm, SBRPD stopped a vehicle on Sullivan Trail in Plainfield Twp for a traffic violation. Stenlake, a passenger in the vehicle was found to be in possession of 33 clear plastic baggies of heroin, wax paper containing heroin and miscellaneous paraphernalia. SBRPD filed charges of Possession of Heroin at Magisterial District Judge Schlegel’s office.

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol
Amanda Fox 23 yr old Female
Cibby St., Easton PA
On March 5th at approx. 8:50pm, a SBRPD officer stopped Fox for traffic violations in the 400 block of Broad St in Pen Argyl Borough. Fox failed field coordination tests and was taken to the Easton DUI Center for BAC% testing. Charges were filed at Magisterial Judge Zito’s office.

Possession of Methamphetamine
James Woolley 38 yr old Male
W. Main St., Pen Argyl PA
On March 9, 2017, SBRPD was investigating an incident involving James Woolley in the first block of Pen Argyl St. in Pen Argyl. While conducting their investigation, they found a clear plastic baggie containing methamphetamine on Woolley. SBRPD filed charges for Possession of Controlled Substances at Magisterial Judge Zito’s office.

Aggravated Assault and Related Offenses     Pen Argyl Borough

Gregory Bates  39 yr old male   Bangor Rd., Plainfield Twp PA

On 3-2-2017 at approx. 7:02 am, SBRPD responded to a report of a domestic dispute in progress.  Officers arrived on scene and learned that Bates had fled prior to officers arriving on scene.  Bates is accused of entering a residence in the 100 block of N. Harding Ave.  The caller was Bates’ wife – being separated from him and living in Pen Argyl.

Bates exited his car, taking a pick ax from the vehicle.  Bates gained entry to the home through the basement.  Bates threatened the victim, raising the ax and threatening to kill the victim.  The victim called police and Bates fled.  Police obtained a warrant for Bates and at approx. 1:00pm and located Bates at a residence in the 1100 block of Bangor Rd.  He was taken into custody with no issue and transported to MDJ Zito’s court for arraignment.  Bail was set at $20,000 / 10% which was posted.  A preliminary hearing is set for March 16th.

Reported Theft of Packages

On February 21, 2017 SBRPD investigated a reported theft from a porch in the 300 block of East Main St. in Pen Argyl Borough.  Police were advised by the victim that packages were delivered via Fed-Ex and were removed from his porch prior to him coming home for the day.  Witnesses observed the packages at approximately 3:00pm.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Slate Belt Regional Police Department.

Theft of Appalachian Trail Entrance Sign

SBRPD is investigating the theft of the Appalachian Trail sign from the parking lot on N. Broadway in Wind Gap PA.  It was noticed stolen on February 25, 2017.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Slate Belt Regional Police Department.

Aggravated Assault and Related Offenses

James Robert Mason       35 yr old male – E. Main St., Pen Argyl PA

On 2/10/2017 at 11:44am, SBRPD officers responded to the Travel Inn located at 499 E. Moorestown Rd., Plainfield Twp for a report of an assault.  Officers located a female who reported that Mason assaulted her while they were in a room at the hotel.  Mason is reported to have thrown a 39 yr old female to the ground, kicking and punching her in the ribs and face.  It was also reported that Mason choked her with his hand, then wrapped a plastic grocery bag around her neck to choke her.  The victim related that Mason put a pillow over her face and threatened to kill her.

After the assault, Mason left the area.  The victim was taken to Muhlenburg Hospital via ambulance.

Shortly after the assault, Mason appeared at the SBRPD headquarters to pick up a report on another matter and was taken into custody.  He was transported to the N.C. Central Booking Center and was later arraigned by Justice Corpora.  Mason was remanded to the NCP on $50,000 straight bail.

Simple Assault – Susan Kresge  N. Harding Ave., Pen Argyl PA

On January 31, 2017, SBRPD responded to a residence in the 100 block of N. Harding Ave. , in Pen Argyl for a domestic disturbance.  Officers learned that Kresge struck a 25 year old male from the residence in the arm with a baseball bat and struck him in the face.  Kresge was taken into custody for domestic assault, and related offenses.

 

DUI – Laura Jade   Phillipsburg NJ

On February 3, 2017 at 1:37 am, SBRPD responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 1300 block of Colony Ln, Plainfield Twp. for a report of a suspicious vehicle.  The vehicle’s driver knocked on the door of a residence, then left the area.  SBRPD found a vehicle matching the description parked diagonally on Benders Church Rd., a close distance from the original call.  Police located Jade and arrested her for DUI after she failed field testing.  She was later taken to the DUI processing center.

 

DUI – Tyler Flemming   Whitehall PA

On February 3, 2017at 1:08 am, SBRPD on patrol located a Honda parked on the side of Books Hill Rd., Plainfield Twp. occupied by Flemming.  The officer believed that Flemming was under the influence of alcohol.  Flemming did not successfully complete field coordination tests and was placed in custody for DUI.  He was later transported to the DUI processing center.

Clinton Ball – Sullivan Trail, Wind Gap PA
On 12/21/2016 at approximately 12:15am, observed Ball riding a scooter without lights or reflectors on Sullivan Trail in Plainfield Twp. The Officer stopped Ball, who admitted to smoking marijuana in a “vape pen” earlier on the ride from Easton to his location. Ball failed field coordination tests and was arrested for DUI. Charges were filed at District Magistrate Schlegel’s office in Wind Gap, PA.

Assault
Cheyenne Lytle – E. Main St., Pen Argyl PA
On 12/24/2016 at approximately 6:50 pm, Slate Belt Regional Police were called to the 200 block of E. Main Street in Pen Argyl for a report of a domestic dispute in progress. On scene, officers learned that Lytle was involved in an argument with a 20 yr old male at a residence. During the argument, Lytle punched the victim in the face numerous times. Lytle was arrested and charged with Simple Assault and related offenses and taken to the Central Booking Center. Lytle was arraigned by District Magistrate Manwaring and given $5,000 / Unsecured bail.

Earl Hartzell – Pennsylvania Ave., Pen Argyl PA
On 12/24/2016 at approximately 11:15pm, Slate Belt Regional Police were called to a home in the 100 block of Pennsylvania Ave in Pen Argyl Borough for a report of a Domestic Dispute. On scene, officers learned that Hartzell was involved in an argument with a female inside the home. During the argument, Hartzell pushed the female to the floor. The female was holding a 1 yr old child at the time. The female complained of minor pain and the baby suffered a bruise to the head. Police placed Hartzell into custody for Simple Assault and related offenses. He was later arraigned and given $5,000 / 10% bail.

Assault
Adam Voelker – Sullivan Trail, Nazareth PA
On 12/20/2016 at approximately 1:30pm, Slate Belt Regional Police responded to a residence in the 5700 block of Sullivan trail in Plainfield Twp for a report of a Domestic Disturbance inside the home. Arrival officers learned that Voelker assaulted another male inside the home, punching him in the chest and face causing visible injuries. Officers took Voelker into custody for Simple Assault and related charges. Voelker was taken to the Central Booking Center where he was arraigned. Voelker was committed to the Northampton County Prison on $5,000 bail.

Theft

William Gallagher – Nazareth PA

On November 27, 2016 police were called to a residence on William Street in Pen Argyl Borough for a theft report.  Police were advised that Gallagher was watching the victim’s home while they were on vacation.  During the victim’s absence, Gallagher stole medication from the home.  Gallagher’s actions were caught on the victim’s security cameras inside the home.  Gallagher is charged with Theft and Receiving Stolen Property.  Charges were filed at District Justice Zito’s Office in Bangor.
